Let’s talk about different species of wood. There are a lot of them out there. Far too many to list! The different species are measured by their hardness on a scale. That scale is called the Janka Scale. For the full list click here!
Red Oak and White Oak are the most commonly used species by our company. They have great grain patterns and look marvelous when they have been handscarped or refinished. They have different undertones depending on which one you select to go with your stain choices.
Some other popular choices here in Texas are Hickory and Birch. Hickory is the harder of the two species. Birch is a wonderful entry level wood that most people love.
